Now, don’t get me wrong.  Stephanie may be beautiful…but she is TOUGH!  We were fogged out of our original location…so as we drove inland, I frantically scanned both my mind, and the landscape around me to locate an alternate spot that would be just as magical as the original one.  It was a race against time…the setting sun…and fog!!  At the last possible moment, it was as if a lightbulb went off, and I veered my car off of the Bay Bridge and onto little Treasure Island, hovering away from the fog that was steadily rolling towards it.  I jumped out of my car, and determined that, YES, it would be close, but I could make it happen!  It was FREEZING (I mean…BITING cold), and the wind was unimaginably rough (there was a constant spray of sea water on my poor lens), but I was inspired and knew that it could be our greatest advantage!  So, I zipped up my coat, secured my hood and braved the weather to capture the most amazing shots of a most amazing girl.

Stephanie,  however, was not so lucky.  She did not have the option of a coat.  But she never complained once!  We toughed it out together…laughing and shivering, cleaning my lens and taking little breaks beneath the prop blanket.  It was a blast.  And here…my friends…are just a few of my favorite images from our time together.

LOVE this one.  If I had to choose an absolute favorite…this would be it.

Gazing into our last drops of sunlight.  Goodbye, what little warmth we had to begin with!!   By the way, did I mention that this just HAPPENED to be the exact location that Stephanie and Jeremy were married at??  It was as if it was meant to be!

I went to the lake to take pictures of a family of baby ducks that I recently found there.  Well, it’s really hard to take a decent picture of ducks when they’re swimming AWAY from you faster than you can walk (read: stumble) across the rocky bank.  Plus, a ton of people happened to be standing there, looking at them (read: scaring them away).  However, I did manage to get a couple of cute ones.  Baby ducks = cutest ever.

THEN, as I was busy trying to take pictures of the ducks I started hearing this really loud, ear piercing “CHEEP.”  I thought it was a baby duck, but then I looked down and saw the strangest and coolest looking bird I have EVER seen, right there on the rocks in front of  me.  It was looking up at me and as I bent down to take its picture, it ruffled up it’s feathers and “CHEEPED” again really loudly.  I kept thinking, “how cool, and strange, is it that this little bird doesn’t fly away when I bend down to take its picture?”  It wasn’t until I GOT HOME and uploaded the images that I discovered WHY!!!!!!!!  OMIGOODNESSS!  See if you can spot what I’m talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last, but not least, I stopped to watch the ground squirrels at their little home beneath a tree.  I was taking a picture of  one that was posing for me on the root of the tree, when I looked over and saw a little head poking out of a pipe to see what was going on.

Next, I wanted to capture some detail images in black and white.  Tiny ears, fingers, toes…these are the things that change in the blink of an eye.  Things you’ll want to remember forever.

Kathrin and David have a pretty amazing love story.  I learned a little about it back last year when I shot Kathrin’s Secret Session.  The short version is that Kathrin is originally from Germany and came to California to work as an Au- Pair (read:  live in nanny).  She met David…and the rest is history.  When her work contract had finished, Kathrin moved back to Germany.  But their love was still going strong.  In May, David traveled to Germany, and from there they took a trip to Paris where he proposed to her on the Eiffel Tower.  Kathrin and David knew they had to incorporate the SF Bay into their Engagement Session.  Once they’re married, settled down in Germany, and SF isn’t just a car ride away, they’ll be able to look over at that picture hanging above the fireplace where they’ll catch a glimpse of the bridge and the special place where it all began.    Look.  At.  Her.  Eyes.  David is a lucky guy! Check out the condensation from the fog dripping off of the railing in these next two.  I’m telling you…it was some crazy weather!

Kathrin and David are such a beautiful couple.  They’re a perfect demonstration that love knows no bounds and what God has joined together no man (or ocean) can tear apart.  I loved spending a foggy morning by the bay with these two who I now consider friends.  They are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside and I wish them every happiness in the whole entire world!

With the beautiful sunshine we’ve been having so far this week, I was inspired to re-post one of my favorite images.  So much romance in one little glance…one little touch.  The sun spilling through adds just the right amount of glow.  LOVE it.

THIS is what I strive to capture with every couples session and engagement session.  ROMANCE.  It’s is what inspired me to begin my photographic journey, and it’s what keeps me going.  If I can capture the intangible bits of a deep, deep love, then I can give my couples a gift that is worth more than gold and will last more than a lifetime.

And, in case you were wondering, we still haven’t settled on a name for her**.  I have some favorites…and hubby has his…but it’s so hard to pick the perfect name for the perfect little kitten.  It has to be something that reflects how sweet and playful she is…yet something girly…and something that’s not been overused.  I’m too indecisive!  I can’t even imagine how hard it will be to name my children!  I’ll probably be one of those moms who is leaving the hospital and still hasn’t named her baby.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course

** update:  We have finally settled on her name:  Bella!  It just so happened to be the very first name I came up with.  I think I just needed a couple of days to make sure it really fit her…better than any other name.  And it does
