kathrin + david {engagement}

The foggiest I’ve ever seen.  That would describe the morning I met Kathrin and David beside the iconic Golden Gate Bridge for their Engagement Session!  When we first arrived, the sky was clear, the sun was bright, and the water below was….well…visible.  No sooner did I push my finger down on the shutter for our first shot, the fog came rolling in.  Well, maybe rolling is the wrong word.  I felt more like we were ATTACKED by the fog. There were times when I could hardly see them through my lens.  The bridge even disappeared completely from our view.   It literally consumed us!  But that’s show biz.  The show must go on.  Especially in this case, as Kathrin was Germany bound mere days after our session, and wouldn’t be back anytime soon!  So, we did a lot of sitting around, chatting, shivering from the cold as I constantly scanned the sky for that  brief opening when we would be able to capture the perfect shots.  As time went on, I got more and more excited.  The fog…while a pain to shoot in…added this element of mystery and romance.  Made me think of Twilight a few times:).  I can’t think of a more exciting backdrop for Kathrin and David’s Engagement Session.  The unpredictable, all-consuming fog, mixed with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.  Kind of represents the unpredictable, all-consuming and iconic love that they share.  More about that in a moment , but first some favorite black and whites from our session.  (Check out that fog!!!!)

Kathrin and David have a pretty amazing love story.  I learned a little about it back last year when I shot Kathrin’s Secret Session.  The short version is that Kathrin is originally from Germany and came to California to work as an Au- Pair (read:  live in nanny).  She met David…and the rest is history.  When her work contract had finished, Kathrin moved back to Germany.  But their love was still going strong.  In May, David traveled to Germany, and from there they took a trip to Paris where he proposed to her on the Eiffel Tower.  Kathrin and David knew they had to incorporate the SF Bay into their Engagement Session.  Once they’re married, settled down in Germany, and SF isn’t just a car ride away, they’ll be able to look over at that picture hanging above the fireplace where they’ll catch a glimpse of the bridge and the special place where it all began.
Look.  At.  Her.  Eyes.  David is a lucky guy!
Check out the condensation from the fog dripping off of the railing in these next two.  I’m telling you…it was some crazy weather!

Kathrin and David are such a beautiful couple.  They’re a perfect demonstration that love knows no bounds and what God has joined together no man (or ocean) can tear apart.  I loved spending a foggy morning by the bay with these two who I now consider friends.  They are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside and I wish them every happiness in the whole entire world!

romance {couples/engagement }

With the beautiful sunshine we’ve been having so far this week, I was inspired to re-post one of my favorite images.  So much romance in one little glance…one little touch.  The sun spilling through adds just the right amount of glow.  LOVE it.

THIS is what I strive to capture with every couples session and engagement session.  ROMANCE.  It’s is what inspired me to begin my photographic journey, and it’s what keeps me going.  If I can capture the intangible bits of a deep, deep love, then I can give my couples a gift that is worth more than gold and will last more than a lifetime.

Take a glance if  you want to know more about our couples and engagement session collections.

AND, since we’re talking about romance…I want to hear from YOU!  Leave me a comment below and tell me where would be the most romantic spot for you and your love to do a photo session…and why!

Now…get out and enjoy some sunshine and romance with each other:)

on the golden gate {sneak peek}

 Went for a walk one day alone
Down around the bay
I guess you could say that it was fate
How else could I have met my love
On the Golden Gate?

She strolled along the bridge, and she
Was the cutest pigeon, gee
Did you never palpitate?
Well, you’d have swooned to see her there
On the Golden Gate

just another lazy sunday afternoon {personal}

Because who doesn’t like a post about sleepy kittens?

Big yawns, jelly bean paws, and long white whiskers…wouldn’t YOU want to cuddle with her on a lazy Sunday afternoon too? :)
